Bloody Scotland 2016

The 2016 Bloody Scotland festival will be taking place in Stirling from 9th-11th September.

Alex Gray came up with the idea for a Scottish Crime Writing Festival during the second bottle of Prosecco with fellow crime author Lin Anderson at a crime writing conference dinner. Alex imagined famous names like Ian Rankin and Val McDermid propping up a bar in different parts of the world and asking one another, ‘Are you going to Bloody Scotland this year?’ – and thus a new festival was born.

The Bloody Scotland festival was an immediate success in 2012 and has garnered many accolades from audiences and writers worldwide. The late William McIlvanney (for many the ‘Father of Tartan Noir’) held Bloody Scotland close to his own heart and it is therefore only fitting that the festival has renamed their Scottish Crime Book of the Year, The McIlvanney Prize. This year’s festival is also dedicated to the memory of William McIlvanney (1936-2015). For more information please go to the Bloody Scotland website.
